Dancing in the Dark: Bringing your best to light
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody is there to hear it, does it make a sound? It’s an age-old philosophical question.
Now, consider what happens if you extrapolate that concept as it applies to your brand. You may be doing amazing things in your organization—innovation, customer service improvements, answering unmet needs, making it easy for customers to do business with you, all the right things—but you take it in stride as your “normal.” You just do it. You aren’t tooting your own horn.
Well, Bunkie, it’s time to break out the trumpet and blow it loud and proud. It’s not bragging. It’s clarity. It’s about articulating what you do well to help prospective clients self-select.
It means you don’t need to be pushy about sales, because you are enticing the right prospects by allowing them to see the experience you provide and helping them to understand the level of service and quality you deliver.
Let customers tell the story for you. Share testimonials or ratings feedback to help prospects feel safe about working with you because they can see someone else has blazed the trail and had success. They can recognize a potential solution to their own situation by witnessing how you solved someone else’s challenge. It creates comfort and lays the groundwork for trust.
So instead of dancing in the dark, turn up the spotlight and dance like no one is watching. Make some noise!
